Dr. Gema T. Simmons is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. Dr. Simmons has been comprehensively trained in general fields of my specialty, including obstetrics, gynecology, infertility, contraception, and gynecologic surgery, including daVinci robotic surgery. She has specific interest in endometriosis management and infertility.
"I feel extremely fortunate to be involved in the life of my patients from adolescence to geriatric age. It is a privilege to be allowed in some of the most important stages of an individual’s life."
" My patients would say that I devote the time to really listen to them and that I am empathetic to their concerns. I try to educate my patients about their medical conditions, when applicable, and include the options available to them for management of their condition. My patients would describe me as someone who is compassionate and genuinely concerned about them as an individual."
Dr. Simmons received both her undergraduate and medical school degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She enjoyed giving back to her alma mater by serving on the University of Missouri School of Medicine Board of Governors and taking part in the Griffiths Leadership Society for Women through the Mizzou Alumni Association. She has achieved and maintained her board certification in obstetrics and gynecology since completion of her residency at the University of Kansas-Wichita OB/GYN program in 2002.
Dr. Simmons has been serving Omaha since 2002. She has enjoyed raising her 3 sons in the community and volunteering with various organizations including school parent/teacher organizations, local food bank, and enjoyed her time with the Omaha Public Schools Foundation.
Dr. Simmons is always striving to learn more in her specialty and applicable primary care topics to expand her knowledge and experience, so she can better serve the needs of her patients. Furthermore, she is always willing to take the time to listen to her patients and address their concerns. However, bearing in mind their best interests, she will let her patients know when a referral to a different specialty would better serve them.
